* BEGINNERS WORKSHOP

Phase 01

The beginners' workshop is a 2-day program exploring the fundamentals of music production. Using Ableton, participants will learn how to navigate the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), and be introduced to the basic concepts of music-making. A free sample pack and guidebook will be provided. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to continue their journey in our weekly sessions under the Creative Music Production Program.

  • Where is School of Altruism?
    We're just a short walk away from Kembangan MRT station. Successful applicants will be informed of the address prior to lessons.
  • How does the sliding scale work?
    You may pay any amount between $180~$300 for the Creative Music Program, no question asked. The payment is for 4 classes to be completed within 1.5 months. If you wish to pay $300 for your first month and $180 in your next cycle, that's completely fine too. We hope to make our prices as accessible as possible for all to join. We are also open to barter trade of mutually agreed services and goods.
  • How much do classes cost?
    Creative Music Program Drop in: $60 4 classes: $180 ~ $300 Beginners Workshop $180 Beginners Workshop + Creative Music Program $100 + ($180 ~ $300) = $280 ~ $380 You may pay any amount between $180~$300 for the Creative Music Program, no question asked.   • What happens if I miss a class?
    Join in the next class. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide refunds. Your 4-class package is valid for 1.5 months.
  • Is there a specific DAW required?
    You may use whichever DAW you prefer in the Creative Music Program. As classes are focused on techniques and music thinking, any chosen DAW will enable you to participate. For Beginners Workshop, we will be using Ableton Live to conduct the classes.
  • Must I be a beatmaker to join?
    Nope! The weekly sessions at the School of Altruism are for anyone and everyone who wants to explore new ideas in music, practice in a creative environment, gain insights from an experienced producer and connect with other musicians. The only condition is you must be able to make a 30s loop on a DAW of your choice. You can be a singer, rapper, hobbyist or producer. We welcome music explorations of all kinds.
  • Can I join for classes if I have not made any music before?
    As long as you are able to operate a DAW or make a minimum of 30s loop, you are welcome to join in our weekly sessions. Alternatively, you may join us at our Beginners Workshop, where we run through the fundamentals of music production. Afterwhich, participants may join the Creative Music Program.
  • What genre of music does the school focus on?
    We are genre fluid. You are free to explore your music expressions at School of Altruism where we will provide you the space, tools and knowledge to achieve your personal goals.
  • What is the duration of the Creative Music Production Program?
    There is no limit for the duration of the program. With new topics explored every week, students may continue their learning for as long as it serves them. Visit our program tab for more information.
